Hamsters love to stay active so give them some room to run around.  They also like to hide and sleep in an enclosed place so give them something they can crawl into for this purpose.

Be sure that you know what kind of hamster you have as Syrian Hamsters must be housed alone.  Dwarf Hamsters are more social and like to play and be around others. Because of this, they can be housed together but keep the males and females separated if you do not plan on breeding.
